Hope
From $1,200.00 CAD
A portion of your loved one’s cremated remains is physically incorporated into your artwork. Using the Memorial Kit we provide, you send a portion of the cremated remains to Tribute Art™. Upon arrival, they are handled with the utmost care, dignity, and respect and carefully processed into a fine powder. A portion is then incorporated into the artist’s medium, and the artist uses that medium while hand-embellishing your artwork, so your loved one becomes an integral part of the piece itself. Any cremated remains not used in the artwork are returned to you with your completed piece.
What to Expect
Once your order is placed, our team coordinates each stage of the process on your behalf—from the safe transportation of your loved one’s cremated remains to preparing the artwork, embellishment, final inspection, and delivery. Every step has been thoughtfully designed to make the experience as seamless, secure, and respectful as possible.
Liability Waiver
Because your Embellished Art will incorporate a portion of your loved one’s cremated remains, a signed Liability Waiver is required as part of the ordering process. The waiver must be completed before cremated remains are sent to Tribute Art™. Instructions for safely preparing and sending the required portion of cremated remains will be provided with your Memorial Kit.
Your Memorial Kit Is Sent
Within 1–2 business days of placing your order, we will send you a Memorial Kit containing everything you need to safely send the required portion of your loved one’s cremated remains to us.
Your kit includes a specially sized memorial bag selected for your artwork, detailed preparation and mailing instructions, and a designated place for the required Cremation Certificate. We ask you to include a copy of the Cremation Certificate because it confirms that the cremation has been completed and provides documentation associated with the cremated remains being transported.
Cremated Remains Are Prepared for Your Piece
The amount of cremated remains required depends on the size of the artwork you have selected. Simply fill the provided memorial bag according to the instructions included in your kit, securely package it as directed, and follow the mailing instructions provided for your country.
In Canada, customers may choose an eligible Canada Post service for mailing cremated remains to Tribute Art™. In the United States, customers will be instructed to bring the prepared kit to a USPS Post Office. The shipment must follow USPS requirements for mailing cremated remains internationally, including the required USPS Cremated Remains outer shipping box and applicable Priority Mail Express International service.
Once Your Memorial Kit Arrives
Once your Memorial Kit is safely received by our team, we confirm its arrival, check its identification and documentation, and begin coordinating the creation of your piece.
Your selected artwork is professionally prepared for embellishment, and the cremated remains are carefully prepared for incorporation into the artistic medium.
Your Artwork Is Embellished
The required portion of cremated remains is respectfully incorporated into the artistic medium before the artwork is hand-embellished. Texture, depth, and individual artistic detail are added to create a unique and meaningful memorial.
Throughout the process, your loved one’s cremated remains are handled with dignity, care, and respect and are used only for the memorial artwork you have authorized.
Any Remaining Cremated Remains Are Returned
If the full amount of cremated remains you provided is not required to complete your artwork, the remaining portion is securely packaged and returned to you with your finished piece.
Your Finished Artwork Makes the Journey Home
Once the embellishment process is complete, your artwork is carefully reviewed, protected, and prepared for shipment. Any unused cremated remains are returned with your finished piece.
You will be able to follow the shipment until your Tribute Art™ piece has safely arrived.
Journey Tracking Included
Handled With Care Throughout
From the moment your Memorial Kit begins its journey to you through the safe return of your finished artwork, every stage is coordinated with care, respect, and attention to detail.
Added peace of mind, every step of the way.
We understand the trust involved in sending your loved one’s cremated remains to us. That’s why journey tracking is included with every Embellished Art order at no additional cost.
Their journey to us
Your cremated-remains kit includes an activated GPS tracker that stays with the package as it makes its return journey to Tribute Art™. You’ll receive a live tracking link, allowing you to follow the journey as your loved one’s cremated remains make their way safely to us. The GPS tracker is recovered when the package arrives at Tribute Art™.
Their journey home
Once your artwork has been completed, a Bluetooth tracker is securely attached to the package for its journey home. You’ll again receive a live tracking link, giving you an additional way to follow your artwork as it makes its way back to you.
We intentionally use a different type of tracker for this final stage. Our GPS trackers are reusable and would need to be returned to us after delivery. Rather than asking you to package and ship a tracker back at the end of the process, the Bluetooth tracker can simply be discarded along with the packaging once your artwork has arrived safely.
It’s one small way we can provide an additional layer of care and visibility throughout the journey without creating another task for you or your family.
From the time your loved one’s cremated remains begin their journey to us until the completed artwork makes its way home, our goal is to provide added reassurance while keeping the process as simple as possible for you.
Within 1–2 business days of placing your order, we send you a Memorial Kit containing instructions, an appropriately sized memorial bag, and a designated place for the required Cremation Certificate. You place the required portion of cremated remains into the memorial bag and mail the kit following the instructions provided.
Once the Memorial Kit and cremated remains are received, please allow approximately 2–4 weeks for your artwork to be completed, carefully packaged, and shipped to you. Any unused cremated remains are returned with your finished artwork. Journey tracking is included with every Embellished Art order at no additional cost, with an activated GPS tracker travelling with the kit on its journey to Tribute Art™.
Oil Paintings
An oil painting fully cures over six to twelve months. The varnish layer we apply at release does the heavy lifting; your job is simply to keep the piece in still air and stable light.
Day to day
- Once a season, dust the surface with a clean, dry, soft-bristled brush — a new makeup brush or paintbrush works well — brushing lightly from top to bottom.
- Hang on an interior wall when possible — exterior walls swing with the weather.
- Keep the room between 60–75°F (16–24°C) and 40–55% relative humidity.
Never
- Direct sunlight at any time of day.
- Spray cleaners, water, alcohol, or microfiber cloths — microfiber can catch on raised paint and lift it.
- Hanging above a fireplace, HVAC vent, kitchen, or in a bathroom.
Prints on Canvas
Our canvas prints receive a protective archival coating that guards against dust and minor handling. They are lighter and more flexible than paintings, but the printed surface should still be treated with care.
Day to day
- Dust the front and frame with a clean, dry microfiber cloth or a feather duster.
- Keep the piece in a stable, climate-controlled room on an interior wall.
- Handle by the frame or stretcher bars, never by the canvas surface.
Never
- Direct sunlight, even with UV-protective coating. Light damage is cumulative.
- Water, cleaning sprays, and damp cloths on the printed surface.
- Touching the canvas face or leaning objects against it.
More Than an Artist
Creating beautiful art requires talent. Becoming a Tribute Artist requires something more. Our artists are entrusted with something deeply personal and entirely irreplaceable. That responsibility changes the nature of their work.
Every artist who embellishes a piece with cremated remains is trained in the Tribute Art™ process — a carefully controlled approach designed around dignity, security and care. From the moment cremated remains are received to the moment the finished artwork is returned to the family, every step is intentional. This is not simply a matter of mixing ashes into paint. It is a practice of compassion.
Our artists are trained not only in the techniques required to respectfully incorporate cremated remains into their work, but in the sensitivity and responsibility that comes with doing so. They understand whose hands their work will eventually return to, and what that piece may come to represent. For many of our artists, it gives their craft an entirely new purpose.
Their talent becomes a way to honour a life. Their hands become part of someone’s story. And a work of art becomes something a family can live with, hold close and carry forward.
We choose artists who understand the significance of that responsibility — artists whose skill is matched by compassion, integrity and a deep commitment to their craft. Because when something this precious is placed in our care, extraordinary artistry is only the beginning. It deserves extraordinary care.
Frequently Asked Questions
Tribute Art™’s Embellished Art combines fine art with a deeply personal form of remembrance. Each piece is individually hand-embellished, with a portion of your loved one’s cremated remains respectfully incorporated into the artistic medium, creating a unique memorial connection within the artwork itself.
It depends on the artist. Tamara's artwork is embellished by Tamara, Shane's artwork is embellished by Shane, and Thomas's artwork is embellished by Thomas. Artwork from other participating artists is carefully embellished by Tamara or Thomas, ensuring each piece receives the same thoughtful attention and care throughout the process.
No. Embellishment is limited by the amount of cremated remains and is focused on select areas to enhance the artwork. Because each piece is individually hand-embellished by an artist, embellishing the entire artwork would require significantly more artist time and cremated remains than are included in the standard embellishment process.
Yes. The incorporation of cremated remains is an integral part of the Embellished Art process. These pieces are specifically created as memorial artwork and are not available without the incorporation of cremated remains.
The cremated remains are thoughtfully incorporated into the artistic medium as part of the embellishment process. They become a meaningful part of the artwork rather than being intended as a prominent visual element.
Each piece is individually embellished by hand, so subtle variations in texture, detail, and finish are expected. These individual characteristics are part of what makes each finished memorial unique.
Available sizes vary by artwork. The sizes offered for each piece are shown on its individual product page.
Every Embellished Art order includes journey tracking at no additional cost. An activated GPS tracker accompanies your loved one’s cremated remains on their return journey to Tribute Art™, and you’ll receive a live tracking link so you can follow their journey to us.
Once your completed artwork is ready to make its journey home, a separate Bluetooth tracker is attached to the package and another live tracking link is provided. The Bluetooth tracker can simply be discarded with the packaging after your artwork arrives, so there is nothing you need to return to us.
Due to the personalized and memorial nature of Embellished Art, all orders are final once placed and cannot be cancelled, returned, or exchanged, subject to applicable law. If your artwork arrives damaged or there is a verified issue with your order, please contact us.
An Artist Proof is the very first print produced from the original artwork. It holds a special place in the creation of the piece, representing the first printed version of the artist’s original work before subsequent prints are produced.
